About Apparel, Accessories, and Tshirt Screenprinting

A behind-the-scenes look at the screen printing process at Faze One Ink

Step 1: Design

At this stage, we find out whether the client has their own artwork, wants to use our design center, or wants us to design custom art for them. If they desire custom designs, we listen to the client to gather information about how we will be designing their artwork. Then, our professional in-house designers create the artwork.

Step 2: Client Artwork Approval

Once the art has been created, we get in contact with our client to show them a proof of what their design will look like. The client either has revisions or approves the design. Once the revision process is complete, the client approves the artwork to be prepared for screen printing.

Step 3: Preparing The Design to be Screen Printed

When a design is created using one or more colors, separations must be used before the t-shirts and other apparel and accessories can be screen printed. To do this, our designers create a separate document for each color to be used in the screen printing process. Each document is printed with only those areas showing that match those colors. These documents are then printed on to film.

Step 4: Preparing The Screens

At this stage, our artwork is given to our Textile Production Manager who oversees the screen printing process. The screens (one for each color) are then coated with photosensitive emulsion and the artwork that was printed on film is applied to the screen. The artwork needs burnt onto the screen next. In order to do this, the screen and design are exposed to ultraviolet light that when washed away, removes the emulsion so that the ink can now pass through the screen.

Step 5: Screenprinting Tshirts, Apparel, and Accessories

Our screen printing department then takes these screens and loads them onto our professional press. The screen printer will then take the ink and pour it on the screen that corresponds with each color being printed. Once the screens are tested and made sure that they are all aligned with each other, the t-shirt or apparel is positioned on the press. Once placed, the screen is lowered down and the ink is pushed through the screen by the use of a squeegee which transfers the ink onto the shirt. The screen printer then lifts the screen, removes the shirt or item and places it on a conveyer belt which passes under a dryer. Once the item passes through the heat, it becomes dry and is gathered. Each item is inspected for quality and then the screen printing process starts over for the next item in the order.

Part Time Screen Printer Wanted

Looking to make some side income? Growing Columbus Screen Printing Company is looking to hire a part time screen printer to work in our warehouse. Work will be on an order by order basis. Salary: $7.50 - $10 per hour depending on experience

• Job Requirements:
• Past experience using screen printing equipment /setup, manual machines, clean up
• Knowledge of mixing inks, coating, and reclaiming screens, heat press, vinyl cutting
• Hard working, team player, with positive attitude
• Have a great eye for detail
• Photoshop, Illustrator, or graphics program experience
